I'm considering selling one of my blogs. I've looked around, and SitePoint is probably the best place to do so. I'm new to selling entire sites though, so I want to see what others think. Here's my question: What is your general experience of site "flipping"? Have you ever bought or sold a site? Did you use escrow services? Were you happy with your purchase, and would you do it again? Thanks for any answers
There is no reason to only sell at one site. Put the listing up at SitePoint, DigitalPoint, NamePros, WHT, etc...the more exposure the better. I've sold a site to a friend and also did a low $X,XXX transaction on DP. The buyer was very good and understood the risk he was taking in buying it. He had very good iTrader so I didn't use an escrow service, but no problems thusfar and it's been 2 months. I think the scam window has closed.
I have sold sites here on DP before Christmas i made a good income but since January sales have dropped right away. I would say it is good business but be prepared for some sites to take time to sell.
I have only previously sold 1 site and that I sold via the WHT forums, for a low amount $XX as it was a basic site.. but payment was via paypal, had no complications and was a nice easy transaction
I just sold 2 sites, here on DP and since they were in the $x,xxx range I used escrow.com for the first time. It is a great service, and works for both sellers and buyers. The fees are a little more but you can have buyer & seller split the fee, or have one pay 100% of the fee.
