Buying Affiliate Products at CB

Does anyone know how to buy CB products as an affiliate. I am somewhat new to IM and would like to put up a review site of products. I don't want to fill my reviews with BS so I am willing to buy the products to compare them. I don't want to pay retail for them for this purpose so I am hoping to buy them through my own affiliate link.
I just don't know how to go about that. I read a thread at some forum (can't remember where) about this and it was suggested to buy it through the members own link. If I buy through my own hop link how can I hide or do I need hide the fact that I am doing this? I don't want to start out on the wrong foot and end up banned before I even begin my marketing campaign.
I have not tried to make a purchase yet. I wanted some feed back before attempting to do so. This may sound cheap, but I can't afford the full price for the products I want to review and the authors/publishers are getting their money anyway. Initially and whatever I can promote myself.
I hope I'm not in trouble here for asking this!

Contact the seller, explain the situation and show them our affiliate outlets - most will give you a free copy!

as far as I know, many affiliates buys products from their own links, and no one god banned or something because of that. I bought my product just to make sure everything is ok with payments, displaying [ages and thank You pages, etc on my site and everything is ok so I think You have nothing to worry about :)

If you fear being banned by any affiliate site then use a proxy while buying your affiliate product through your own affiliate link. Change your ip or else clear all your cookies before you purchase through your link.

Actually some vendors do not allow affiliates to purchase through their own link. It is always best to check with the vendor.

I also contact the vendor and explain that I am interested in promoting their product and see if I can get a copy. I also tell them that I would prefer not to purchase it for evaluation purposes and then request a refund as that does impact their stats.

I have been able to get a free sample by simply contacting the vendor and explaining what i was going to do with it...I think a lot of vendors are happy to do this provided you can prove you are genuine, which is sometimes hard to do when your are starting out in IM

I use this method from time to time. Not once have I ever received a
complaint from Clickbank or the seller. It would be a bit childish if it was a
problem, not like your "stealing" the product from them like most black hatters.

Clickbank used to have the answer to this question in their FAQ. I tried to find it but a lot has changed since I first saw it several years ago. Essentially, they said, Yes, you can do this but then they discouraged it. I've done it a few times and never had a problem.

For your purpose, I don't see a problem with it.
