Buying Advertisements: CPM vs. CPC ?

    Hi,

    If someone is going to buy online advertisements, generally speaking, which one is better to purchase...CPM impression advertising, or CPC cost per click advertising?




    My personal opinion from my brief experiences would have to say and prefer CPC advertising.

    Example: I bought some Facebook CPC ads. I had like 5K impressions, and only 2-3 clicks. @ average 20 cents/click. So total cost is about 60 cents.

    If I were to buy CPM ads, then it would have surpassed 60 cents easily for those 5K impressions.





    Thoughts? supporting or denying one or the other?

    Well CPC and CPM ads work differently for different niches. For me CPC always benefited. However if you have niches like warez, adult etc you will probably find that you can get better deals of CPM advertising

    So basically what you're saying is CPM advertising is best for the illegal stuff to promote via most CPC networks, correct?
    gambling, adult, warez, etc.


    All other legal stuff like pets, law, financial, education, clothes, homes, etc. should be spent on CPC?

    It all depends on what you are doing and what you are promoting as we have found it is EASIER to keep losses to minimum with CPC but with CPM we have found at times you have even more room to really grow your volume! they key is working with a CPM network rep to make sure you dont get put on junk sites.
