I ran across this http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread19379.html is this guy trying to buy space to put the coop? Isnt that the same thing as selling weight????
You're right. Apparently I missed the memo...haha. I still think that selling your weight and buying ad space is different though (you do not directly profit monetarily from buying ad space on other sites). Then again, I've been hibernating for the last few weeks...anyone else?
This brings up a question I've got for a friend...He has a website he's trying to sell. It is PR5 with about 1700 indexed pages, and has another sub-domain with about 1500 pages at PR3. How much weight would this be? How much would someone pay per month to run 5 co-op ads on his site? It's a cool site that he doesn't have time to deal with anymore...Losing traffic, but solidly maintaing PR.
(Homepage PR x Pages indexed) x number of ads run Keep in mind, the pages indexed you see might not be what the API sees, its likely much lower.
that equation doesn't make any sense. A page can have a PR of 0, yet with that equation, that would make the weight 0, which isn't the case.
That's my thread and I did get the authorization from DP before going for it, but I haven't got a positive answer from it yet though. It's not easy to convince a webmaster to install all the required files in their site's root, including a 777 .txt file. I just convinced my first webmaster and bought my first ad space to use in the Coop, but I contacted the guy through a Text Links selling site. Webmasters there seem to be a little more receptive and open to the whole deal. .
Technically only the web server would need rw access to the .txt file... so if you made the web server "user" the owner of the file, you could set the permissions to 600 as a minimum.
