    Okay,

I'm definitely not a hardware guy, so I'm hoping some of you guys will be able to tell me if I'm wasting money here...

I'm planning on buying another desktop for my office, and would like to see if the cheaper "refurbished" computers are a better deal than a new one...

    ebay desktop
    Pentium 4 2.4ghz / 2400mhz
    Memory (RAM): 512mb Memory
    Hard Drive: 20 Gigabyte

    monitor
    19" black, flat panel monitor

For the computer and monitor it would wind up being like $250ish...

All I need this for is email, web surfing, the occasional online poker game, paint shop pro and a few other applications... But nothing too resource intensive... I often do find that I run a few applications at once though...

What do you guys think? Nice set up or a waste of money?

    Thanks!

That seems like a great deal and considering that you do not run many
applications simultaneously it may workout well for you.

I believe it's a waste of money. For double/triple the investment you can get yourself a 4x better computer with the lastest hardware and OS. the computer you are wanting to get is old and I believe by 2009/2010 you will need to upgrade again...its a o.k computer i guess but i would get a more powerful one.

It looks it's good enough for your needs, and not expensive.

My suggestion is to go with 2 GB of RAM or at least 1 GB of RAM for better performance.

What OS will be use on that computer? If it Vista, upgrade your RAM just like what others have suggest.
