Buying a high PR domain, and keeping it that way?

    Hey all,

I've searched the forum and Google, it may be the way I am phrasing the question but I can not find anything..

I'm looking at buying a fairly high page rank domain only( PR 5 ). No site is included.

My concern is that since I will be using the domain with a new site and new content how will I go about keeping that nice high PR? I don't want it to just suddenly drop.. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for your time! Hopefully you have some good pointers :)

You can check the domain before buying. Things to check -

Domain History in Wayback Archive - When it was dropped last. Suppose it's dropped very recently then it's likely that Pagrank will definitely decrease in next Update. I got a domain which was dropped 2 Yrs back but still has PR after the recent update. That means the rank is most likely to be retained because of the old backlinks it has and yes I've to build links too.

Yahoo - If there are baclinks in Yahoo or not. Accn to me Yahoo Siteexplorer shows the accurate number of backlinks. if it's PR5 and no backlinks then obviously PR may decrease if too many links are not built.

And once you have new content ready just quick start link building and on page SEO. Start by submitting sitemap to most search engines and mean while get some backlinks.
