Buying a High PR domain and 301'ing it

So what effect does it have when you buy a high PR domain and 301 it? I assume it needs to be related to the content of your site but to what detail? Take my niche for instance, if I find a 'investing' domain and 301 it, will it help my forex site?

Also, it seems to me that buying a high PR domain can be cheaper then a link for a year.. I have gotten quotes from people as high as $150 a year for a PR5.

Honestly it won't help you. Next thing I will say is verify those PR domains because it can be fake. Or highly influenced by paid links. The next thing would happen is both domains the original one and your original one will be penalized with pr and SERPs. So the ball is in your court. I say market your own domain rather than trying to cheat the system.

So if I am 301ing a Domain with no Page Rank, but I dont use that domain name no more but I get tons of traffic still, because i have changed my domain name (Business Name) and forward all the traffic to it, will it affect my SERP still? And if it does whats the best way to get arround it

Google says PR is passed from 301's from other domains but I'm not convinced. Seen little evidence of it so far - certainly very much doubt you'd get all the link juice from a PR5
