Buying a domain with PR

    Hi

If I buy a domain that has PR I heard if the contact address changes then Google looks upon it as a new domain and the PR gets taken away or something? Is that true or rubbish?

I am looking to start a new site and have an offer for a PR5 domain on the table, but dont want to buy it if the pr5 wont stay

    Thnx

It can. I've heard the best thing to do is ease the transfer. First the nameservers, then wait a month(make some updates) then the personal info, etc.

That could be rubbish but by nature I'm paranoid

I can't see it happening ... PR is based on backlinks, as long as the backlinks remain the PR should remain. It's a different story for SERPs, the content changes so therefore the SERPs will change but SERPs and PR are not the same thing.

Rubbish, you dont have to ease the transfer or any other voodoo. If the backlinks still support the pagerank it will stay.

I wouldn't change anything until this update is done. Then you have 3 months to play with it and secure the new location and PR.
Many sellers take away the good links to use for other projects. It's unfortunate, but true.

I've bought quite a few PR domains, including PR5's, they will not go away because of DNS/info changes.
Keep the backlinks, or even build more backlinks, and you're ok.
