Buying a domain that is about to expire (Hopefully!)

I have had my eye on a domain that I have wanted for many years. Next month it is up for renewal.

The site hasn't been up-dated for 2 years so I'm hoping the webmaster does not register it.

I read a detailed article on the steps a guy took to do the same thing, however I've lost the link to that article.

Has anyone got previous experience with this that can give me some advice?

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris

I think I know what it is (if it's not actually next month, I do for sure!), and you'de better backorder it to hell, because you're not the only one watching that one!!!
