So lets say I want to start a site about making money online or articles.... Would it be better to make a domain with the words "makemoney###$$.com or just come up with a domain like yourpapersite? Just a example. Would it work better for SEO or does it matter? It seems if you have the word "money" or "article" in your domain it costs more(premium) or is taken.
well it is always good to put a main keyword in your domain name to help SEO but you can still get to the top without doing this. Backlink Popularity.
I think it would be better for SEO, but you kind of have to look a little deeper than that. There are thousands of blogs that talk about making money already, and some of them went the extra step to make a more brandable name than "makemoneyxxx.com". So if you want to compete in the niche, then I suggest you create your own unique name, and just use other SEO tricks to make you rank decently. I'm really not an expert, and someone will probably shoot my advice down. But that's just what I would do. Good luck!
Well if I make a how to make money online site it will be different than the rest. Hopefully I can push my way through the millions of them that are out there.
It probably won't be much different. But what I meant was that if you're wanting to compete in such a huge niche, then the least you could do is make your domain more brandable than "makemoneyxxx.com". As for how else you can make it unique, it's up to you because I am clueless about that.
The thing is it won't cost much to try. I can host unlimited sites on my hosting(if I upgrade) for the same price(6+ a month USD) so all it will cost is 83 cents a month which is easy to pay for. I mean if you just got a few clicks a month on the ads you could make that not to mention cheap link sales!
Any domain can earn your money back over a year with 1 adsense unit and submission to search engines so its worth a try
And if you buy hosting say at godaddy where I buy from they will let you have either 1 domain for $1.99 or unlimited with purchase of any non domain items.
