I wasn't sure where to post this so if there is a more suitable place, then please move this thread (if possible):

Hi. I am intending on buying a domain name. I just have a few questions about how to go about this:

Do I have to buy the domain from the same company that I choose to be my web host?

Which companies are good for buying domain names from? (.com and .co.uk are the only ones I'm interested in).

Also, I am looking for a web host, but there's too many and I am unsure about which to go with. I will need about 100mb and approx. 5-10gb bandwidth per month (that's the total amount stuff can be downloaded from the website each month right?). I want about 100% uptime (or thereabouts), and I would like the web host to have a good customer service. In future, I may use php and/or javascript but this is unlikely.

Also, how hard is it to change web hosts?

Can anyone recommend good a good company to buy a domain name from and a good web host to host my site? Thanks.

EDIT: I would like to have like 10 email adressess with @mydomainname.com or .co.uk

Oh, er, also I have found a .com domain name that I want but it's registered to someone else. I would like to try and buy it for a cheap price from the person, as it had expired in May. But there's no contact details on the Whois server so I don't know how to go about this. What do I do to get this domain name?

There's a million out there & no you don't have to register the domain name & host it at the same site... in terms of registration there's numerous out there...GoDaddy.com, Xoobia.com, exc. In terms of host HostGator is extremely popular, BlueHost.com is another good one. Most of these companies will give you free email w/ the web hosting.

In terms of the expired domain you could try to backorder it.
