Buying a Computer from WalMart

Walmart seems to have a pretty good deal on a desktop for less than $700 and a laptop for just under $800. Has anyone bought their computer from Walmart and if so how do you like your machine? Would you recomend buying from Walmart to your friends or family?

I bought a bare bones E-Machine computer from Wal-Mart for my parents two years ago. It has been quite reliable and sufficient for their need. Their computers usually come with 256-512 RAM so you might consider buying an extra 512MB-1GB stick.

well it depends on the machine.. different companies use different quality parts. E-machine mentioned above uses some of the cheapest parts in the world to build its computers, which is why they break very often.

Duilen your in the minority for e-machines that dont break! I used to work ina computer repair shop about 2 years ago, and we must have had an e-machine come 4 or 5 times a week. Thats a lot considering we only have 3 people repairing comps, and about 10-15 total comps a week.

Anyhow what i recommend is getting a warranty if your going to buy one. If you tell me more about the comp, then that its from walmart, i might be able to give you more info.

I bought my PC's from Dell Outlet. Would never buy from Walmart. Would never buy an Emachine. I'm confident you can do better with that much money.

Only ones I've seen at walmart are the e-machines. I didn't look at the specs, but walmart really isn't the place I go for computers. Haircuts, manicures, mcdonalds, food, paper towels and everything else under god's green earth - yes; but a computer? no? :p

Walmart has some very affordable systems, I have seen emachines computer for less than $500 and I know several people who own this systems with no problems.

if you want to get on line, do some processing and print stuff they are a very good option that will not break your bank account.

    I like Wal-Mart.

I just bought this, I seriously doubt Wal-mart could hang.

    bottom line is this..
no matter where you go, you get what you pay for..

    you don't get a 2,000$ PC for 500$.. u get a 500$ pc ;)

a friend of mine got a 400$ e-machine from best buy even tho i told him it was crap, he has replaced his motherboard 2 times now ..lmao

I normally buy from Best Buy or Cricuit City or Office Depot or CompUSA. Never had any complaints.

There are great deals at Dell. Got a 24 inch LCD and Dual processor for under $800. They usually have sales like this once per month.

I've noticed the ad I'm looking at doesn't say anything about an Operating System. Does anyone know what OS they ship the computer with?
