I tried to buy a canadian domain in the us, and no us sites sell them. So i went to buy a canadian domain on a canadian registrar site, and it said i have to be canadian! ____________________ All I wanted to do was have the www.mysite.ca domain forward to a www.mysite.com url is this not allowed? Thanks in advance for your comments!
Correct, You have to be a Canadian citizen or a Canadian permanent resident. The Canadian registry site www.cira.ca has more info. Requirements: http://cira.ca/en/documents/q3/CanadianPresenceRequirementsForRegistrants-EffectiveDateJune52003.pdf
I don't know why people expect country TLD's to be open to all. The whole point of country TLD's is to be country specific and for residents of that country. Some small countries have little local demand and little economy so they sell domains to raise money but that's another story.
