I have a nice offer at the moment, some friend of mine wants to sell me a 5letter .com domain with 100$.It has no traffic on it,just a plain domain name.Is it worth it?I know 2 and 3 letter domain names are great, but is 5 worth at least 100$?

    Not really, unless it's a really good and brandable name (hello.com ; night.com ; green.com ... ) or has some PR.

If you would like to send me the url, I will be happy to consider it.

Does the domain have any PR or back links?

    DMOZ listed or Yahoo listed?

    Thanks

Shenron - if you can find someone willing to sell hello.com, night.com or green.com for $100, I'll give you $100 finders fee :)

    Some recent examples from Afternic:

    uloop.com $100
    herow.com $200
    dslot.com $501
    rockc.com $1000

Basically, its nice to have a short, brandable domain, because they can be used for any type of project. I own Iyabo.com and I wouldn't sell it for less that $100. But I guess it comes down to how much you like the name. If you like it a lot, $100 is not too much to spend.

5 letter is crap I have to say, not worth much. Unless the name itself is good. But the sole fact that it is 5 letters does not matter.

It all depends on the domain itself. Is it something like skrhv.com or sites.com?
