what to do ? My logs show that a customer did in fact purchase and download the product from my shopping site. But 30 minutes after, payment is reversed, and paypal closed the case.

it says Unathorized Payment, and payment is reversed. So they ended up stealing it.

I have the userid of this person. he is on here i believe.

Probably somebody hacked into a Paypal account and misused it for placing order on your site.

I know it hurts getting cheated but then it is a virtual world and you got to accept it as a risk to doing business.... online! :(

yeah no doubt. This is seems to happen every once in a while. I guess its a cost of doing business. Anyways, where can I put the names of this person so that people can stay clear from him? I have his id and he is on DP. i have his address and full name too.

what pisses me off more is that paypal didn't even bother letting me post the evidence.

Sorry to heard that but you must accept this coz PP doesn't cover virtual item.
You should use other payment gateway such as MB.

it turns out the person's paypal WAS hacked. the person told me that paypal informed them that their account was compromised.

anyways i traced the log in my ip, and its from bluehost. i suspect the person had used Tor, and tunneled a bluehost ip.

he tried to buy twice, using different fake id's. i did think it was a bit odd since usually, in my back end, it never says "awaiting payment", ppl pay and is given immediately download link.

i also found it strange because i had received an email to my store support email account saying they couldn't receive the download due to some expiration....but there is no expiry date for the product downloads. this is impossible because many ppl purchased it recently and there were no problems,

anyways i shot bluehost a mail....i dont think this will get anywhere. especially if the person used Tor.
