Buy related links - How relative should they be?

    Hi,

I have a paintball website i'm building links for.

I am wanting to keep my link building campaign steady, as I am currently in the sandbox.

However, I was wondering how relevant the links should be. For example, would it be a good idea to buy links for sports sites in general? Or should I ignore these and try to get paintball links? I understand that a link is a link, but is there more weight carried to more relevant links?

    What do you think?

Your PB related sites are great.
The day directory is worthless (anyway, if it makes you happe, keep on doing it like that), you should rather make it a PB related directory.

Go for sport sites even those general. SEs check the page relevance not the site relevance, though they are on their distingushed way.

I never tried in this industry, but wouldn´t it be possible to call the most trusted if you could become their contributor? writing articles etc regarding PB? They could even pay you for that:) so you wouldn´t waste your time nor money...

I would target paint ball sites or general sports sites that have a section or page on paint balls and try to get a link on that page.

In general, more relevant = the better. Note that automaticly clasification software might have some categories which are strange to you, so you might fall into i.e. military website or games category or category 772527 ;)

Category or categories where your site fit in SE algorithms you cannot predict, so think rationaly - more relevant - the better :D

This is a good reply, anyway, even the human edited directories like DMOZ do that. There´s a simple reason why, if you apply for being a reviewer for such directory, you don´t know you´ll have to review 745 sites daily; you just wanted to promote your business little, you know what i am talking about, it fits to 95% of all DMOZ reviewers.

If you get the truth, still wanting to follow your first reason of being such site reviewer, you get frustrated, but having the balls you do not want to give up.

So you superficially - like - review the sites. In fact, in this case there´s no difference between the bot and human edited site...
