I have a quality content on a niche subject and want to set up a blog that after all link building and SEO will automatically publish that content to the blog with specified period breaks and wonder which domain would be better for indexing, ranking on SERPs, etc. - So whats is better way of getting a domain for it (if both of them have the keyowrd in it) 1-Buy new, not registered before domain. 2-Buy expiring domain no matter what PR is (of course check if banned).
backlinks are not a problem, i mean does age of domain add some authority or trust by google? i suspect that new domain starting to fly from day one may get banned or sth
I would go for the expiring one because usually the longer the domain has been registered the more value it has. Newly registered domains would take a bit more promotion to build up a PR if it has no back links.
Expired, the trick is knowing which expired domains will rank. So will give you nothing, others will drive lots of free traffic via google, msn or yahoo. I have been posting quite a bit about this subject on my video blog site. www.my-affiliate-programs.com Hope it helps, Brian
Thanks everyone. BJohnson, of course i will try to pickup the one with highest PR, link papularity, etc.
this is an excellent question.. glad to see someone asking it. My first step would be to do searches on the one you want to buy.. to see where its ranked and what it is currently associated with. bigtoedomains.com
Expired domains are ideal unless they have been hanging out in a bad Neighborhood. What I mean by that is if you buy an expired domain that has been involved in a scam or an affiliated adult industry Google will be reluctant to crawl the domain. When researching expired domains make sure that you take a look at the archive history before deciding to buy or it could hurt you. It is important to choose a domain with history, but make sure that history is one that will not haunt you later.
What I check for on expired domains: 1. Links (make sure you look at the individual links, not just the link count. look for links from authority sites etc). 2. Age (older = better) 3. Archive.org (check what was previously hosted on the domain, and that it's been in the archive for some time) 4. PR (or rather, check for fake PR. the actual PR is really not that interesting for ranking purposes)
I prefer Expired Domains... but if you wanna register new domain that I can suggest this one etkit.com I wanted to buy this but Changed my plans
