    Hi guys

i have come across an ebay listing of a website for sale and would LOVE to hear opinions

    it's at http://cgi.ebay.com/Computer-Games-...trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1205|293:1|294:50

the guy claims the site makes some 7k per month and sells it for 1k only ..

what i want to know .. do you think this business model will really generate the profits of 7k / mo ?

honestly, i barely even think of buying this thing because i have no clue if this is true or a scam. However, your opinions may point me to make a website like this myself (i'm a php programmer).

so .. here are the 2 main questions:
    1. did anyone try this business model (buying adwords traffic to a MFA website) and does it really generate the profit ? also, isn't promoting this kind of website against adword's policies (affiliate website ....)
    2. human factor: you guys think i should believe to what he wrote about "why i sell this site" ? i mean .. 7k /mo profit goes for only 1k ?

    please share your thoughts

    Thanks

P.S. just to prevent off-topic talks .. I AM NOT interested in this sale and am NOT the owner or any friend of him and am NOT advertising this listing or smt like that .. you may check my previews posts here to see that i'm not involved in such things at all.

Has good potential for amazon affiliate program. Definitely would want to check search engine ranks for this site.

Heed the the phrase "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is" - Nobody would sell a site that makes 7k a month for 1k.

A couple things that you should know about right from the start...

The earnings the owner is claiming are probably not correct, but lets assume that they correct. First, he says he is sending traffic from Google Adwords to Amazon's Affiliate program. With this business model the real money is in the keyword list that he is using with Google Adwords and it appears this keyword list is NOT included in the auction. The website on its own is not worth $1,000 or even $100 and can be easily replicated.

So lets say you buy this website for $1,000 and the seller doesn't provide any information on how he was marketing the website. First, you will not have any traffic because all the traffic the website was receiving was directly from paid clicks. Second, you will spend all your time, energy, and money trying to figure out which keywords he was using to make these profits (assuming they are real). Third, you will probably end up finding out that the profits are not real. Fourth, if the profits are real the seller will probably just buy a new domain name for $10 and send all his Adwords traffic to this new domain and start the process again of building up a website to sell.

So in the end, can you have a website making $7,000 a month selling for $1,000...YES. The real value in this business is the Google Adwords keywords and bids list. Without that knowledge included in the sale the website is only worth a couple hundred dollars at most.

I hope that helps you understand things a little better...

He's claiming that the reason he is selling is because of some upcoming health issues?

    He's lying, almost definitely.

This pretty much sums it up.

You've also got to look at the fact that he's listing Gross Profit, that is, profit before all the costs of selling have been taken off.
He may be making $7k a month, but spending £6.5k of that on stock.

I'd give it a miss myself, but it's up to you i suppose :)

First lest start with his ebay profile... so far he hasn't sold shit and bought 22 items that cost less than $1 and by looking at the items I'm pretty sure that he did it just to boost his feedback so that he could sell that site for 1k.

    Now about his site:
    0 Backlinks
    0 PR
    Duplicate content

Since he didnt even bother to improve the link structure or do any kind of seo even the basic stuff I really doubt it that he has done any ppc marketing either. My best guess is that he failed miserably with his site and now he is trying to dump it on someone else before the domain expires.

And to answer your question YES you can generate 7k a month with a similar business model. Is this guy doing it? NO

The site is two weeks old and uses eGamer template the guy claims he designed himself.
I think that closes the subject, as Haspel has already said all that has to be said.

I never made much from Amazon affiliate sales doing this type of business model. Maybe it was the wrong niches dunno. Commission rate sucks

    2 weeks ? i've checked the domain and it's actually 1 year old (july 17 2008).

One thing i've noticed myself is that he claims to have profit in period of april-june 2008 which is BEFORE the domain was even registered ..

well, at this point i'm more interested in the reliability of the business model than this particular ebay listing's trustworthiness .. i'm not buying that site anyways (even if it was more likely to be good).

thank you all for the opinons, however i'd like to discuss further the business model, so if anyone has reviews of the business model and/or examples - i'd be more than happy to read

    Thanks

    Lets see:

    PR = 0
    Alexa = 8,043,460
Backlink Watch results = Your website has not backlinks to report. -- Go on .. and build backlinks first ;)

Mmm.. my take is that he may be buying traffic which is not that good for the buyer unless he provides the money making method step by step and even so I wouldn't completely trust it...

That listing sounds and looks way too fishy :)
