Just wondering whether making online is a hobby or a full time job for people on DP? Personally I started intending to make a business from it, but gradually it's developed into a hobby. So, business or hobby?
Definitely a business I make all my money through the internet. I do not however rely on only a single revenue stream.
i voted business as thats my position, but i started out originally building and maintaining sites on my job time, and would highly recommend anyone dabbling or thinking about marketing online to do the same. start to make money on someone elses time. it was a very satisfying day to tell the boss I was leaving and when they asked where i was going i told them i am working for myself, was the envy of most of the people in the office. i probably work harder than i did in the office but I get at least 4 times the money i did working in the office as a senior executive - nothing beats working for yourself....
you can actually make your hobby your business too, your earning money and enjoying your work at the same time...
It's my hobby. My forum doesn't make money. I just enjoy meeting people and making friends. I'm a big flirt, so my theme is perfect for me. I enjoy it very much. Later on, I may put a few ads on the forum to help pay for the server but right now, it's perfect the way it is and I enjoy it very much.
I love and agree with everyone's views... personally, your business should be your hobby in way that if you don't enjoy your business, as you would a hobby, then you truly won't be successful with it. I know many people can say otherwise, but honestly I believe hobby first, then business
I agree, but after all, if you are making a regular income and it's your full time job, then I would call it a business. A lot of people don't like their offline jobs, but it doesn't mean it isn't a business, and a lot of people who do their hobby as a business wish they hadn't (and I know a few! ) because it takes the novelty out of the hobby.
Good point... I think that's why those who have found great success are the ones that found ways to still love what they do. As well, I didn't really think about businesses vs. jobs... which obviously changes the scheme of things
Both. I love what I do, it started as a hobby and expanded into it's own business that I run on the side.
Wow I can't believe so many people put hobby... Man if you do it as a hobby you will not have a business... it's like asking Michale Phelps if swimming is a passion or just a "hobby" of his... But I guess you're being honest...
