Anyone used a business blog on websites before? Are they really that effective to add contents and raise PageRank?

Not sure what you mean. A blog is a worthwhile addition to any site for traffic and appearing to search engines as "fresh".

depends on the business - a cleaner may not benifit from a business blog but corporate sites nearly all have them - so you can see they don't hurt (unless you did it badly)

Blogs are much more popular these days on business sites, and many businesses can benefit from having corporate blogs if done right. It's not right for every business. Companies who have them need to make their blog a way for the company to connect with viewers at a more personal level, and keep it relevant to the audience. If done right, it can be a real resource for site visitors, and can definitely help with SEO. The key is to make it a resource for those visiting the site, and something that they actually WANT to read.

It depends on the topic of your blog. If you want to promote your business on your blog just create an interesting topic or info related to your business niche and put your links on your blog.

I read Chow's blog on that. The thing is, many companies have tried it within their service, and they didn't get that many readers.

It seems only small groups of certain people flock to blogs. Like people do to message boards, like Digital Point.
