I currently own a website at www.followtwitter.net which runs a unique script I wrote a few weeks ago. The website is currently very new, and makes money through AdSense and VIP payments. However, I believe it may take a while to build a big enough userbase before I start making some good money. I have a few options, and I'd appreciate it if you could advise me on which path to take. 1. Follow through with www.followtwitter.net; keep advertising, pushing the website and hope it rockets off and money is made through VIP payments and AdSense. 2. Sell the website and script with exclusive rights, this would hopefully net a good amount of money but would mean I couldn't sell the script again. 3. Sell the script to lots of people, altering it so it's very easily customized for increased sales on my behalf. 4. Other, please explain. I really appreciate your advice and I'd like to hear your views. Thanks, Sam.
Your script is good. I would suggest you find some shareholder together manage your site. You can sell some portion of your ownership to other interested party let say 10% for $100.
If you are prepared to put in the hard work, the rewards of option 1 could be well worth it. Next would be selling it of to an exclusive buyer if you just want the money quickly
Stick with option 1... The fun part was creating and coding... now comes the tough part... driving traffic and generating revenue... Push through it and it will be worth it in the end...
I agree with you that perserveering with the script could be very rewarding. However, currently I am not seeing a massive rise in the users (the viral effect on Twitter doesn't seem to help) and I'm not getting many clicks on AdSense or VIP payments. I really don't know what to do. =\
I had a similar situation with my proxies. I had a great period followed by a slump in which I got disheartened and sold cheaply, which I ended up regretting. Only sell if you need the money for a personal emergency or you have a better use for the money. Give it a month of solid marketing and if you still feel you are going nowhere, sell it and move on
