President George W. Bush said today that he understands and respects the views of those who are calling for him to cut short his summer vacation, but warned that an immediate withdrawal from Crawford, Texas would "send a terrible signal to the enemy." "The enemy would like nothing better than to see me cut short my vacation and get back to the White House," Mr. Bush told reporters. "They hate my freedom." While the president said that he would withdraw from Crawford "soon," he refused to set a timetable for his departure from the ranch, saying that much work there still needs to be done. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andy-borowitz/bush-refuses-to-set-timet_b_62826.html ============ Hehe!
I've just been reading some of his posts outside of P&R and some of them are quite good, it is just that when he posts in P&R he's a bit like GTech on acid.
Dammit I hate when I agree with you AGS, it makes me feel like I have done something wrong This shit where I feel the same way you do seems to be happening a lot lately
Grandpa your posts are great. Keep'em coming. Much better than that "people dying", "people bombing", "people committing atrocities" stuff we can get from the MSM. Btw, I really like Ariana Huffington. She's pretty hot for an old heiress.
ewww, huffpo? As if *they* would ever cover anything in a non-partisan manner. That's the same site whose members were literally in tears the Cheney wasn't blown up. What a cess pool of anti-American hatred that site breeds.
Sure, I agree. But for a man who looks like Wilford Brimley you ought to have enough experience to add your commentary to the threads to personalize them a bit.
It's too bad I don't have the time or passion to argue with you. All I will say is, America is more than the government (or it's highest officials), particularly one that does not protect the Constitution, Rule of Law or Civil Liberties. And Ariana Huffington is hot. At least, she should be to you an old geezer like you.
No worries, I'm familiar with self-loathing and blame America first for everything. I've pretty much seen it all before. Yet so many are so willing to sell it out for so little. You'd be hard pressed to find these same people doing anything other than complaining about how good they have it. I'm sure she's taken it up the ass once or twice Maybe if she did a little more often, she'd find something good to say about "her" country every once in a while.
I wonder if the colonists had taken that approach when the loyalists argued for the King, if we would even have a United States of America today.
Our great country wasn't built with the blood of pacifists and those who want our country defeated. I wonder what would have happened, if people of that time sat around self-loathing and blaming their country for everything.
You're making my case. The Colonists stood up to the establishment to bring about change. They didn't believe that "the government" or "leader" was acting in their best interests, and they took action domestically. They fought for FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE from foreign interests. They wanted sovereignty from global organizations like NATO, the WTC and the UN. They didn't want to take orders, or put their taxes towards someone else's agendas or interests. That's why they kicked the King's ass and formed this great country. Now we are seeing grassroots candidates like Paul strike a chord with patriotic Americans and the military. If something is rotten in Denmark, you aren't going to fix it by invading France. And the true patriots can see the conflict of interest the establishment keeps directing us towards. I'll never understand why you continue to play the role of British Loyalist in this analogy.
Doesn't mean she's unAmerican IMO.. to be honest, I know the name but little else about her. But just because someone is willing to criticize their country doesn't mean they don't love it, criticism and discussion brings about change, for better or worse.
