If your state allows for concealed weapons or you have a concealed weapon license then yes, reaching for the glove compartment could get you shot by a cop. It's for the protection of the cops.

The correct thing to do is put your hands on the dash (or where they can see them) until the cop says it's okay to move them to get paperwork.
