GENEVA | A visit that George W. Bush planned to make to Switzerland this week was canceled after leftists called for protests and rights activists proposed legal action against the former president for the torture of terrorism suspects. Bush afraid of facing courts for his crimes It seems U.S. former president has officially joined the other war criminals on the run from justice.
First of all he would not be afraid having a number of body guards. He just didnt want to go if people were going to attack you. Would you want to go?
Not the account for the book he wrote - 75% discount at the Supermarket and the books are still there, two months latter.
His book sold out fast when it came out?? It was all over the news! Sold faster then Sara Palins book.
It came out in Nov, was highest first days sales for non fiction book at Random House in the last 6 years, topped Amazons best seller list every week from the day it came out to the start of the year, and in 3 months has outsold Pres Clintons book in total sales... despite the 6 year head start. Guess liberals for all their posturing arent real big readers. Decision Points is a poorly structured and arrogant defence of George Bush’s time in office. It is also essential reading and an important insight into the thought processes of a leader whose appreciation of domestic politics was far more keen than his international outlook. http://theglobalherald.com/book-review-decision-points-by-george-bush/7668/ It is a book that is part spin, part mea culpa, part family scrapbook, part self-conscious effort to (re)shape his political legacy. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/04/books/04book.html It’s a pity, though, that in the process of presenting himself before the bar of history he didn’t make a good book out of it. In the light of precedent, that was to be expected.†http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...1/03/ST2010110306025.html?sid=ST2010110306025 Many of Bush's literary misdemeanors exemplify pedestrian sloth, but others are higher crimes against the craft of memoir. In one prime instance, Bush relates a poignant meeting between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and a Tajik warlord on Karzai's Inauguration Day. It's the kind of scene that offers a glimpse of a hopeful future for the beleaguered nation. Witnessing such an exchange could color a president's outlook, could explain perhaps Bush's more optimistic outlook and give insight into his future decisions. Except Bush didn't witness it. Because he wasn't at Karzai's inauguration. His absence doesn't stop Bush from relating this anecdote: "When Karzai arrived in Kabul for his inauguration on December 22 - 102 days after 9/11 - several Northern Alliance leaders and their bodyguards greeted him at an airport. As Karzai walked across the tarmac alone, a stunned Tajik warlord asked where all his men were. Karzai, responded, 'Why, General, you are my men. All of you who are Afghans are my men.'" That meeting would sound familiar to Ahmend Rashid, author of "The Mess in Afghanistan", who wrote: "At the airport to receive [Karzai] was the warlord General Mohammad Fahim, a Tajik from the Panjshir Valley .... As the two men shook hands on the tarmac, Fahim looked confused. 'Where are your men?' he asked. Karzai turned to him in his disarmingly gentle manner of speaking. 'Why General," he replied, "you are my men--all of you are Afghans and are my men.'" http://www.the-peoples-forum.com/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=21290 Salon writer Alex Pareene suggested it might be because some buyers actually can’t stand Bush. “It may be the fact that he was hated by so many people actually helped fuel his book sales because people wanted to hear him actually justify himself and explain some of his decisions that he made,†Pareene suggested. http://www.sodahead.com/united-stat...use-people-hate-bush/question-1423237/?page=4 No wonder the price has dropped so much, most say it's crap. It's on Amazon at $18 and still on first print run so it can't have been a great seller.
Did you really expect Salon to say anything good about it? Still in three months it's outpaced Clinton's 6 year mark and was the top seller at Amazon for two months running. Those are stats, not opinions, so saying it can't have been a good seller isnt exactly true. Has your book sold over 2 million copies yet?
Naah, it's been done. Don't think there's been a war in Antarctica yet. Dress warmly, I hear winter there's a bitch.
But nobody cares about Antartica! - that won't make em download it. It's gotta be a place they love or hate, hang on wait...there's oil there...hmm, anyone know George's number, have I got a great idea for him...!
Yeah, guess you could always invade Texas, the Alamo hasnt been used in a while. If that's the plan, better hurry, the weather in summer will make you wish you'd chosen Antarctica.
What Breeze should do is go back to the Supermarket to check the book for the edition number. My guess is, its not a first edition (first printing). There were 1.5 million books printed in the first printing. He sold over 2 million copies in one month. That is as many as Bill Clinton sold of his book "My Life" in 6 years. I think my copy is a 3rd edition. I cannot remember.
