Hi All. The company I work for is starting an SEO World Cup competition, First prize is $5,000. It is open to anyone who feels up to the challenge and to make the competition as fair and competitive as possible we are letting the competitors debate as to what the best rules are for a true test of SEO skills. If you’re interested please go to http://worldcup.busbywebsolutions.com/ Look forward to seeing some of you there and discussing potential rules.
also if your interested we have a viral video: http://worldcup.busbywebsolutions.com/busbyseoworldcup/video.php
Ummmmm http://sem.busbywebsolutions.com/ So you want to have people seo, your seo website, for you, free of charge??? The contradictions people post are amazingly astounding.....
No, actually, we want you to help come up with the rules for a competition which your welcome to compete in, which is on a completely different sub domain, plus also the keywords which are up for debate, wont be there to promote our site rather to give a fair challenge to people competing. The general idea around it is to run a competition to see what are the best seo techniques and you can also see we don’t stand to gain much on our business side. to be honest, whilst we stand to gain nothing as staff if we win, we will be taking part because a few of us has differing views as to what is the best way to optimise.
Ok well the sub domains will never out rank the main domain if the SEO is done correctly. Next having to compete against your employees presents a conflict of interest on your part. It's not how it should be. That's like a car dealer giving away a car in a contest to see who can keep a hand on the car the longest and the winner is one of the car salesmen. While that may sound harsh, I believe it is illegal in the US to have friends family and employees participate in giveaways and contests that you sponsor. Australia likely has some laws that are alike. Lastly you can visit any SEO site that has had an SEO contest of any import and find the rules....
If we wanted to do SEO on our site we would be better off spending the 7500 prize money for the SEO competition on and SEO campaign, needless to say that’s not our objective here that’s also why there is a web design and a web development world cup also Also I understand your point re conflict of interest, hence the reason our staff cannot win the competition, all prizes will go to people outside of Busby, however I am more than happy to modify competition rules to bar those people from taking part, however I do not see them as a problem at current considering they are not eligible for prizes. Yes, we realise we could take someone else’s rules, but that would not be very ethical and also wouldn’t drive debate in the community around what would be the best rules at this point in time to run an SEO competition on would it.
Well you could use the rules of others as a guidelines for your own. Its wrong to have anyone within the company or friends or family participate whether or not they can win prize,,,,,See conflict of interest and nepotism... Good luck whatever you decide!!!!
How about you make everybody set up a site. Same niche, and see who can get higher in serps in say a 3 month period.
True we could, however we do have abse rules in place that we created, we just want community input on them. Ok I will consult with others - we want this to be as fair and legitiment for everyone as possible, even though I was really looking forward to thrashing the sales team even if I am a complete SEO noob myself.
Can we use blogs sites? how about a half way check point prize this will fire up the contest instead of leaving the big push for the end I am in
Hi Guys Yes, you may use blog sites Good idea re the halfway checkpoint prize, we will discuss this internally and announce on the Busby Forums ( http://worldcup.busbywebsolutions.com/forums/ ) sorry no - seocontest.net would break the rules as it uses the term "seo".
That is good news you be thinking about the a half way check point There has been several fake contest last year and would boost confidence in the contest a lot I suggest 1000 half way or 2 $500 monthly prizes checkpoints If you do this I will probably double the competition This is my first entry http://www.bloglines.com/blog/busbyseochallenge let me know if I am breaking any rules
