Is it worth holding on to 5 letter domain names that have been deindexed by Google? Are there any good resources for this type of information? Thanks
I would hold on to any 5 letter .com or .net domain. Occasionally check the domains for sale section on DP and other forums to see the prices for 5 letter .com and .net. At some point, I would sell them if I got xx to xxx or more for them.
Yup, i would do exactly the same, considering how hard it is to find a .com domain that actually means something, for example this domain actually exits: www.icantfindadomain.com
Do you mean random letters, or does it mean something. Or is it brandable (neat sounding and pronounceable) at least? Also, I assume it got deindexed just because it was parked and could easily get re-indexed by someone?
If the domain was deindexed by Google for some "evil" reason, the commerical viability of future development could be affected. But, if they spell a name, are brandable, by all means, hold on to them; I believe they will continue to appreciate in value. ~tasty
5 letter .com domains can be very valuable, and my guess is their value will be quickly increasing. However, it will be far more valuable if it is brandable, ie something pronouncable (like Geico, which of course we are all familiar with these days). Random letters, especially 5 consonants, (eg, gjkwr, will not be as valuable because they are much less brandable.
Do the 5 letters mean anything, or are they just a jumbled mess like oxoec.com like the stuff people keep making proxies out of?
It doesn't mean anything to me. Personally, considering it's banned also, I wouldn't bother with it. To me it's the kind of domain that I see a lot on DP used for links directories that people sell, there's hundreds of them. It's just my opinion of course and you have to do what you think is best, but I only like to keep domains that I can envision a purpose for, where it says something to me. For instance I have obeyus.com that isn't doing anything except redirecting to somewhere else, but I hold onto it because I have some ideas what it might be used for - a social networking site for fascist dictators was one idea.
Thanks for all the thoughts. I put an affiliate on it for now and may ask Google for forgiveness after it has been up for awhile
