Burned by CJ?

Have people had instances where they've been burned by CJ for

1) either using links on a site that isn't registered?
2) using PPC to direct traffic to CJ affiliate sites?

Also, I want to know:

1) if they generally don't accept PPC sites.
2) if a landing page is necessary for text links (not direct links).

 

i lost over $300 in commissions b/c i didnt have a landing page. it depends on the program, some require one others dont. u may want to email them through cj mail just to be sure. and i know a lot of programs dont allow PPC b/c the majority of visitors they receive dont convert. they arent going to the site b/c they are interested in buying something, they only click b/c they are being paid to. affiliates arent going to pay for visitors if they arent making any sales from them.

before you do anymore promoting i would check with the individual programs as to their specific rules, i wouldn't want u to put anymore time and effort into it only to lose the commissions you have already made.

 

I personally like the strict rules of cj, make a landing page, don't cloak links, play nice and they'll pay nice.

What if you have a banner on your site do you still need a landing page or is just for PPC and text links? How can they keep your commissions when you got them the business regardless of rules. If you get fired from your job for doing something wrong they don't keep your money. That sounds like old school Pay Pal scammer stuff.

 

the majority of them state that they can make changes to your earnings at anytime. if you do it all their way, they wont. each program is different so their rules are different. specifically speaking, i was told it gave the user a bad experience of their site... which left me wondering... lol

needless to say, i've since dropped the program and replaced it with ones that are a much better fit for me. affiliate marketing is really all about what works for YOU!! thats whats so great about it. it takes a lot of work, but the payouts can be very worth it.

 

Reading T & C before placing ads is the way. one can email advertiser from cj email box and ask about ppc traffic.

 

I have lots of sites (for years) that have never been "registered" on CJ. Your domain is in the referrer line on the link when someone clicks if the advertiser or CJ wants to know where it came from. Now, true, I can't track everything from each site as it shows up under my main site.

CJ has never had a problem with this for me. Unless the sites in question are against TOS, which they aren't, then CJ and the advertiser should have no problems with it.

I gave up registering each site for it's own PID when I realized when I sign up to new advertisers they normally ONLY look at your main site and have a tendency not to look at the other sites you might have listed.

Say you have a car site as your main site. You sign up for some computer advertiser for your new shiny computer site and apply. The computer advertiser only looks at your main site, the car site, and declines you (not a good fit).

I then have to contact the advertiser and tell them what site it's for and they manually then approve me. That got old real quick. Now I apply, and if I get declined I shoot them off an e-mail and tell them what it's for and what site.

CJ, Ebay and other large online companies (not Google though) are practicing socialism in its full view. These companies and their practices should not be tolerated in these beautiful US. They are good for Canada or China.

Keep in mind these companies started in the most liberal (ie socialist) states in the US, like California. So do not expect them to treat you, a peasant, with respect.

I am telling you, all these companies are illegitimate. They know they won't face any of you face to face, so why should they treat you, a peasant, with respect? "Go to hell!" they say.

The only way to beat them is to spread the news of a horrible customer satisfaction they provide and to urge people to refuse to deal with them.

I am sure they will be sued for millions and millions of dollars some day when they finally mistreat a few influential people.

 

I personally have not been burned the way it is described here. But I am still new to this and learning.

 

Don't cloak links? How do you keep your commissions from being stolen?

 

cj links are already cloaked so to speak, the look more like this www.ktjzps.com/click-4615813 as opposed to a standard affiliate link that looks like this www.cj.com/id-6457... users dont know what page the link is actually sending them to until they click it.

 

What on earth are you talking about? Who and how can steal your commissions? Commissions are not a credit card or social security #.

 

not stealing necessarily, i think they meant when a user sees that it is an affiliate link, instead of clicking they just type the homepage url in their web browser. and POOF, there goes your commission.

some customers don't like the idea of someone making money off of them.

 

I got burned for about $20,000 from CJ a few months ago. Advertiser reversed 99% of my leads. They showed me the stats, and it looked statistically impossible what they were saying was happening. My CJ affiliate manager agreed that it looked extremely suspicious what the advertiser was doing, but as of yet, absolutely nothing is done.

 

Pppleease! You guys, in India, are full of some weird suspicions. I read, sometimes, the posts from India from guys asking questions about AdSense, CJ and other affiliate programs and I just want to laugh.

"I have an EVIL ENEMY who wants my AdSense account disabled, what should I do?" - they cry, meanwhile, clicking on their own ads and asking all their 200 cousins to click on them.

And how in the world do you know someone is even capable of doing something like this? How can an everage vistor know something like this? I mean, are you dreaming or something?

 

I heard that some people will actually set up an account for themselves, replace your id with theirs, and steal the links that way.

 

All you have to do is hold your cursor over a link and look on the bottom of your screen and it shows the URL of the link. Like I said above, some people who are signed up with like CJ will just copy it, and substitute their id for yours in the link, then THEY get the commission.

 

Well then, they know it's a CJ link, if they are CJ publishers themselves, right? What's to stop them from signing up for that marketer and stealing your commission by going to the site using their own link? If someone wants to steal from you, they'll find a way.
