This is my thread about government bureaucracy. News stories about how self-serving government can be, even at the expense of it's constituents. Some of it is funny, but really it's all very sad. You can post about any government from anywhere in the world. 1. US Beef Exports You gotta read the Op/Ed. It's crazy how the USDA is getting in the way of both safety and commerce. 2. Hats banned from Yorkshire pubs over CCTV fears Excerpt Yup. No old people can wear hats in the pub because Big Brother wants to watch them on TV. Apparently this will cut down on the number of old people committing crime and then trying to hide behind a pint. 3. Legislators: Voter anger may lead to end of income tax Excerpt Get this. The government's claim is that no income tax, the poor handicapped people will go without transportation. Of course, cutting the income tax would force bureaucrats to actually start doing something, and getting creative with their budgets instead of handing out money to buy votes. People are getting killed by inflation, I say a 40% tax cut is much needed! Listen to the little piggies squeal! Go Taxachussets!
Boris Johnson is the mayor of London, England. This is unbelievable. His political enemies are charging him with crimes against Iraq. How Boris Johnson became a war criminal By Boris Johnson Excerpt
Romania is the hardest country in Europe in which to pay business taxes (source) That's probably because we rank no1 in Europe for the number of taxes businesses have to pay (96 taxes, which is more than double of any other european country) and a "proud" number 4 in the world. The state also gives about 70 million euros to the orthodox church to pay salaries to its priests, you know, because the country is so rich we can afford it. And if I remember correctly in 2004 the government decided to give the church 200 million euros to build itself a large cathedral in Bucharest. They have also approved about 150 million euros for a new stadium in Bucharest and the local authorities spend millions upon millions supporting the local footbal (mostly football but other sports too) teams. In the meantime Romania has about, uhmmm, 200 kilemeters of highway. Seriously, we have close to no highways but we spend every year hundreds of millions of euros for supporting professional sports and churches. Oh, and out of the 5 million workers that are active in romania half work for the state, including priests, and a shitload of bureaucrats who have to collect the shitload of taxes we have to pay. So, yeah, Romania is probably the most retarded country in Europe
iul, good thing you have the internet then. At least you have a chance to earn income outside of what sounds like a very dysfunctional system and economy.
Undercover Cops Allegedly Frame 4 On Drug Charges That's government, once again abusing it's monopoly on power, taxation and law.
