You could always go with a beggar. Slap a sign next to them and promise them twenty-five quid if the sign is still there when you get back. ;)

Then take some pictures and send them into the newspapers complaining about how scandalous and depraved it is to see such a thing.

What's the difference between a bum and a beggar?

I like the idea of sending a shot to the press though - what an awesome way to generate press coverage.

Everyone reads them signs as well just to see what they say.

Could even be effective if it was just a kind of blackboard with it scribbled on on chalk.

People might be disgusted but they would remember it and probably tell at least one other person about it

Well, I figure a beggar is trying to get money anyway, so offering them money to sit next to a sign while they continue begging doesn't seem wrong. It's just a way for them to earn more money from begging doing something they were already doing anyway.

If I were selling grunge clothing, I think putting a sign on a bum is natural advertising.

Bumvertising is actually very common in Maryland. On Rockville Pike(big shopping district) there are at least 20 homeless people out with the sandwich boards advertising stores on the average day (not when it's freezing).

Did you go to JMU, Mike? I graduated in 2002.

Another idea is to pay the homeless guy to pull down his pants, get on all fours, and stick his ass in the air. Then shove a flag with your company logo in his crack. This is sure to grab attention if he is on a busy street corner and could really help your company get exposure. And...if you pay him $50/week, this is good money and he can use it for food or to get back on his feet again.

Have you ever noticed how those people on the side of the road waving the advertisement arrow signs are always wearing sunglasses (or something else that covers their face).

Or the few that don't wear sunglasses are sure to hold the sign up in front of their face as the cars pass by.

My theory is that these people were voted "Most Likely To Succeed" in high school and are afraid that someone will recognize them.
