Why is it wrong to bump an old thread? Is it really nessisary to have the same conversations over and over again?

The first thing I do when I come to DP is look in my cpanel at the threads that have had replies sinse I last replied...

There was one today someone replied to it a year later, someone else asked in the thread why it was replied to a year later and it was locked.. WTH, is there an expiration?

I personally thought it was really great the way some threads here were merged, lessoning the need for repeating yourself all the time.

I didn't post the URL to the thread I referred to in this post, as it was just a silly thread in the free for all (except bumping appearntly), it was a fun thread, not a serious thread, but I see this happen A LOT not only here but online in general.

I guess it's because sometimes with old threads the content can be out of date, that was me who replied to the thread btw ;) only because I found it strange for someone to reply to it a year later after its long since buried.

Sorry if I peeved you off :D, the mods do lock a lot of threads in this section nowadays not that theres anything wrong with some of them, they seem to lock them if the subject in question has been well covered, answered or not open for discussion.

I wouldn't worry to much about it

if a thread is in BST, most likely the thread is no valid anymore (domain sold, service no longer available)

it can also be especially annoying for those offering say cash incentives for posting in forums / blogs

Closing threads is done at the discretion of the mods/admins. There's no hard and fast rule for closing threads in relation to age.
