I dont think that this actually works.

I have seen many cars where I leave with weird website names on their cars.

Since I am driving I dont have time to write down the url, or I will probably forget as soon I get to my destination since a computer is not available all the time.

the only cars I see driving down the road with website urls on them are these MLM people (herbalife, avon) etc so you visit their site. I've never seen a real site on a car. I've thought about putting bumper stickers (or fridge magnets) in orders that I send to people, but I'm not sure how much it'd pay off, so I haven't done it yet. Maybe one day.

I was thinking on putting my site's url on Tshirts and wear them when I go to the mall or something like that...

But then I realized that people from my town would start visiting the site, and maybe clicking on my Adsense banners. Then Adsense starts noticing that for some reason I am getting clicks from IPs of the town where I live and will think that I am telling all my buddies to visit my site and click, so bye bye account.

I guess I'll pass on that idea

Adsense dose not think that far in advance but they will close your account if they think that the clicks are inaccurate. As for both of the ideas the car and the teeshirt idea i think they are both really good idea. I was thinking of the sticker idea so i will try it but for that to work i think you have to have a really good domain that describes your products.

Wow, I thought about the same thing!!! I was going to market heavily my site around my town, distributing pens with my website on it, bumper sticker with my website on it, but then I thought about adsense and the possibility of a large number of clicks concentrated in the area where i live.

    Great minds think alike!!!

that won't matter google is smart they have to have a really good reason for banning ur account they would never ban you account for advertising that what they do so it wouldn't happen. Just advertise as much as you can that will only increase traffic which will allow you to make more money on ads. :) money money money

We handed out a few hundred bumper stickers with my wife's DJ business on it. We did not get one confirmed booking from them. The fridge magnets however paid for themselves several times over.

Fridge magnets are going to be in people's homes (presumably where they also have a PC), and not only will their guests will see it, the people themselves see it and hopefully will remember it the next time it comes up in coversation. "Oh, you need a business that does that? I have a frdige magnet from XYZ.com, and they say they do that..."

Another great idea for getting the word out locally is to get small, cheap, useful, branded items and give them to a business. For example, you can order a box of pens with your website on them and contact a local karaoke company in town and give them the pens. KJs always need pens or pencils so that karaoke singers can fill out their request slips. Or, buy a bunch of golf balls that have your name on them and give them to the driving range at the golf course. Have an automotive website? Buy paper funnels that have your name printed on them and give them to gas stations so drivers can use them when filling their oil. Most of these ideas will cost about the same as a dinky add in a couple of issues of your newspaper, but most will last longer.

I agree on fridge magnets for most sites which supply local services. The keyword being services.

Bumper stickers are a waste of money as no one actually puts them on their cars anymore (maybe a few college kids but thats about it). THe majority of people that pay $20,000+ for a new car, arent going to put a bumper sticker on it.

I remember in the 70's/80's a local theme park used to put bumperstickers on all the cars in the parking lot while people were in the park. They usually put them on the bumper itself but were known to throw a few on the paint if the bumper was full. They never got any complaints...in fact people expected it.

They obviously stopped at some point when it became unfashionable and I bet these days if anyone tried it, the majority of people would call the police.

I do have one of my websites as a "bumper sticker" It is in 4" letters and it is about 3' long right across the back of the car.

I always park in prominent places - such as near the mall entrance - so when you walk out you see it etc.

It does generate some traffic. I do plan on getting a heap of fridge magnets made up and put them on my car whenever I park.

Lol, for some reason that is really funny.

I think the OP meant giving them away.

LOL! That is a fantastic idea! My wife's van is very prominently marked and is usually parked by an entrance for the bar/reception hall she is playing at. She could very easily slap a dozen fridge magnets to her van for people to take. In fact, one could just as easily have some kind of plastic business card holder rolled up in the window while they were parked at a public place. Cheaper than magnets and about as effective.

IP ranges vary greatly with different ISP's so I dont think that's much of an issue.

Yeah, I guess my neighbors are getting IPs from India or Alaska, so I shouldn't worry, right?

I dont see why any casual offline visitor would be any different to online.
