If that pages are not already spammed - then links will work as needed. But, if you place your link on page, which contains 100s links - it will affect you in wrong way.

it is better to comment slowly so the blog owners will not think that it`s a spam attack

If you are collecting backlinks from the other pages of the same blog then also it is consider as a one backlink. So collect backlinks from the different blogs...

Comment on blogs if you have a genuine comment to make, something legitimate to contribute.

Network naturally with bloggers. Don't run through their site and post a bunch of comments in one day. Instead, subscribe to their blog, read each post, and post a relevant comment about the post if and when you feel moved to contribute. Don't post empty comments like "great post"; share only when you have something legit. to share.

Commenting with the single-track-mind of building links will get you pegged as a spammer. Commenting with the primary intention of participating in a legitimate dialogue will generate just as many links, and will not get you pegged as a spammer. Furthermore, when your comments are natural, people will click the links and you will generate traffic to your site.
