Hi, I am a web designer and SEO expert who is now learning PHP and Javascript. I would like to build a website similar to this http://activeinterview.com/ as I am not very good in PHP and Javascript I will outsource this job to my contractor, but how hard would this website be able to do? Would you need years of experience? I just want to guage what level of PHP and Javascript I need to learn. Thanks
It's a database driven site so you'd definitely need PHP and there's at least some javascript too. It would take a lot of work but it'd be worth it, these are two valuable languages. Ste
well just work hard don't worry abt the coding and language it's not at all tough ... as stevecane told above that it's a database driven site so ya have to must know abt php ... well now a days asp.net is better than php but it depends on ya that which one ya choose so .... and yes don't worry abt the years cuz ... every website needs times so be happy and keep on moving u r at right platform best of luck
Took me upto 2 years to get any good at writing PHP and Javascript, always remember google is your best friend, you can always find some documentation on certain areas of writing.
Its not very easy. Putting up a site like this may be easy when you are using a in-built script which are available. But doing it by your own will be much tough if you don't have 2-3 years of experience in a particular programming language. Creating these features is not a tough one, but you know scalability matters here. If the video comes delayed while interviewing, it will not serve the job. So preloading and and real time sync between audio and video also matters. So this will also require a very good Database knowledge otherwise when your site will be 1-2 years old, it will take years to load that Candidate details page.
PHP is easy to learn, but this is ( I am guessing ) also a SQL database website aswell, so look into to that ( After you've learned php ). But you should learn PHP/java and make the site yourself, that way you better understand whats going on with your own site. Java script is hard :S I cannot learn it, I only know the basics, way to much math even for me :S!! but here is a site I learned my PHP from, it was really helpful!
