Building Steady Traffic to my Clothing Store Website

I recently launched an online clothing/t-shirt website which I have been working on for a long time and I am really trying to figure how I can get sustained traffic to it. The thing that is holding me back is that I can't figure how to get repeat visits. I have another website that is just a resource site (free stuff for people) and its getting almost 3000 uniques/day, but this is because it is free and it is offering something that people want.

So with a store website, its almost like the website is all ads, as there is no content aside from things to buy. I was thinking of trying social media stuff like stumbleupon, digg, twitter, and myspace, but I know thats not the best traffic. Without really having any content to have other sites link though, what would you suggest I do to build steady traffic?

If you want to check out the website, its oddityclothing.com.

you could try add some content to the website...news updates about the company and whatnot. otherwise, i would post on site like digg and myspace and so on. they're not the best traffic, but its worth a shot.

Have you optimized the site correctly so it generates the right kind of audience.Use Google´s keyword tool to find the best keywords for your site and write content containing these keywords. You can never go wrong with lots of good content.

Join an affilate program and allow other sites to direct traffic to your.

Send out press releases when you roll out new products.

You can start bookmarking on well known bookmarking sites, Directory
submission, Blog posting for your service. These will take few time but you

I agree with many of the points above. Don't worry about repeat visitors as much as finding buyers and definitely start planning your affiliate campaign as it will take some time to get dialed in.

A couple of other points, don't worry about discount prices. Discounts really only work once you're established, may cheapen your product to have discount prices.

Instead, maybe give people a deal on shipping, just keep in mind when you do promote, shipping from one coast to another is more expensive. So focus on promoting within a few hundred miles whenever possible. You goal is big purchases so maybe offer free shipping on orders over $60.00.

Your keywords look good, but your focus is too broad. Each of your pages should have distinct keywords. VERY IMPORTANT, girls search things like color and style, so include these keywords in your copy describing the product.

Get rid of the Grand Opening, people don't like being first. Instead appear established and make people feel like you have an active consumer base. You want people to think they were lucky to stumble upon your site. You can do this by describing your shirts in 3rd person. For example, say, Women love this light blue, slim fit, v-neck (then describe the design and tell them why it's cool). And don't come up with a description on your own, ask women what they like about it. Remember, most people are looking to you to tell them what's cool and fashionable. Your link to the artist is very cool.

See if you can send some free swag to bloggers in return for a review. Be particular about the bloggers, make sure it's the right target, and read a lot of their posts before you approach them. You don't want them to write something negative.

Set-up a wholesale page, you'd be surprised how many people will be looking to promote your product on their site, so identify those keywords. I have clients that get most their biz from wholesalers which in turn increases their own site traffic.

Also, add your phone and address to every page, and make it stand out. People won't call, but they are much more comfortable making a purchase if that type of information is available.

Finally, what about giving a shirt away in exchange for a photo. You could say, send us your photo, with our shirt on, and if we post it, your next shirt is free!

I hope this helps and best of luck. Cool designs. BTW, what shopping cart are you using?
