I realize the TOS indicates no page should be initially built to support AdSense ads. Isn't this a misnomer? In essence, any page which currently displays AdSense ads WAS INITIALLY built for this because the ads are on those pages. It doesn't make sense? I know a guy with 50 websites and every single one was built specifically for AdSense and they have been running a long time and Google pays him well. So . . .question is, what are your opinions?
I don't follow your logic - there's a difference between building a site because you're interested in the subject or want to provide a service and building a 'cash cow' site designed to milk AdSense. You seem to be suggesting that because every web page can accept HTML/Javascript elements it follows they're intended for AdSense - that's just absurd. Shitty, spammy sites full of keyword loaded gobbledegook are just wrong. They're wrong for all of the honest, non-greedy AdSense publishers trying to make a small profit and they're wrong for the AdWords advertisers who are ultimately paying for their ads to be displayed on bone web space.
I tend to agree with CountryBoy. Some sites are a load of crap and really frustrate surfers. By the way, these sites are soon recognized to be spammy by the search engines and there are some I know that have been banned. When you create a site it should really be because you are genuinely interested in the topic and you can contribute some information which actually helps your visitors. That way word spreads and you get more visitors who will eventually click on your ads. My favorite saying is build websites for users and put adsense on them, do not build websites for adsense and put users on them!!
I'm going to ad my two-clicks here and agree with the above two posts (unless someone is posting right now to throw off my numbering!) My own site has been around for well over a decade. It has been around since before Google, let alone adsense. There are adsense ads on it now...I don't think you can say it was built with the intention of putting ads on it. Heck, I don't think there even WERE ads when the initial pages of it were created...other than banners for porn sites maybe lol
it's true we need to build a proper website with good content to attract traffic. once traffic is there, hopefully the clicks will come in too
please stop with that, making a website to generate money through adsense is nothing shameful, and yes you can do a website just for adsense, even if in the tos they have this text. If Google was enforcing it, you wouldn't have all those MFA sites and empty shells with adsense on it, would you? You would have other kind of ppc ads. So do your thing and follow the person you know with 50 sites, if those are not too crapy. 5
