Building shopping comparison site - best way to match/merge data?

    Hi guys,

I purchased a shopping comparison site script and I have about 10 different merchant datafeeds coming from Commission Junction. The problem is, the data matching features really suck in this thing - and I am not a programmer. Of course all of the Manufacturer SKU's are slightly different if not extremely different and my shopping comparison site is more like a giant list of separate products!

The data is all over the place. I want to make sure PRODUCT X has a manufacturer SKU of 12345 in every datafeed in which the product appears, even if it spelled slightly differently.

What is the best way to solve this problem? I have been reading up on building a query in Microsoft Access, hiring a programmer to do it, or purchasing some expensive data merging software (but which kind?). Any help is greatly appreciated!

The problem sounds not too difficult. I would recommend to hire a programmer, he can decide the best way wether it is by writing a query and/or by modifying the script.

You have a data mapping issue.

As an engineer, I would not recommend you invest in super expense data mapping / aggregation software.

Start by locating a developer with some data warehouse know how.
