Every one want to build online business either for supplement income or to leave there current day job, but one thing is imperative...…Search Engines……one simply can’t live with out them.

We don’t want to build business which will depend on Search engines but still we don’t have much choice and somehow we have to work around them. This dependency doesn’t give solid foundation to an online business because all the major search engines are constantly tweaking there algorithm and inconsistency in search results are frequent.

What I think is that we have to build our business in such a way that it will be less dependent or independent from search engines. Well this is not a new concept, every one knows that, even top marketing gurus are already using different marketing tools to build there businesses. I request all DP members to provide there marketing ideas and tools which are helpful to build solid online business but without the help of search engines.

Here I am providing some of them:-

1 - Offline marketing (TV ad, Radio ad. Paper/Magazine advertisement,
Brochures, business cards) – Offline marketing is very important for building brands

2 - Email Marketing/List Building – Email marketing is an important tool which doesn’t need search engines but yes, to build a responsive list we need the help of search engines.

3 - Joint Ventures – Participating in joint venture helps to build business and that doesn’t required SE’s

What you're saying is great, especially for a local business that doesn't rely on the Website for total income. I have a few clients who use their site simply as a referral - like a business card - and a tool in their total marketing arsenal. They don't need to rely on SE for their clients, as they've developed joint ventures with local businesses and they do local PR and advertising.

But the Website is key - they can't do business without one, as it's convenient for clients to find an address, phone number, etc.

You wrote, "even top marketing gurus are already using different marketing tools to build there businesses." I'm in my 50s, and I've been in the marketing business as a writer, PR director, etc. since I was in my late twenties. That was well before computers...so using your methods isn't anything new. Unless, of course, you're talking to a someone who has no clue about how to write a press release for various mediums.

Well, I agree with your opinion. Depend on SEs is not good but I think...
    1. Offline marketing is good but advertise on the paper and magazine could be expensive. I think adwords or other online advertisement would be better.
    2. Yes, I agree.
    3. Yes but I never tried it.

I think there are two very powerful marketing tools. First, video. Second, social bookmarking. You can submit creative videos to YouTube and other video sharing sites. Make sure your site is about music (don't submit copyrighted content) or sexy girls if you want to get good amount of traffic from YouTube. I even think traffic from YouTube is 5x better and need less effort than SEO.

Thanks for your comment, Here i Specifically mentioned Online businesses that totally rely on online income not a local business. Local business can use a website as a tool.

Yes there is nothing new in those methods that I have mentioned but these method doesn't required SE's and I am looking for more similar methods and tools .

"but one thing is imperative...…Search Engines……one simply can’t live with out them."

    Really?

So all those sites that aren't on the first few pages of a search aren't successful?

"We don’t want to build business which will depend on Search engines but still we don’t have much choice and somehow we have to work around them."

So all of those companies don't have a choice?

I, as a marketer who does nothing but advertising, word of mouth, articles, Digg, and whatnot does not have a choice but to work with search engines? So I will eventually fail?

"I request all DP members to provide there marketing ideas and tools which are helpful to build solid online business but without the help of search engines."

They have been doing. Since day one.
