Ok so I work for the company who own and run UKNetGuide but despite having a PR6 on the homepage and several of the inner pages the site does not rank that well for the really high search volume traffic. For instance we rank 2nd for "flight search" but really want to get higher up for keywords like "flights" and "cheap flights". So how could we go about building some links to help achieve this? Obviously the anchor text will play a big factor, but how do we ge the links in the first place bearing in mind that my manager is not keen on purchasing links. I have thought about taking advantage of all the people who want to advertise with us here like maybe giving a discount if you can link back to us from a page with PR3+. If we were to do this what sort of discount do you think would be suitable? I was thinking of doing it on a sliding scale depending on the PR of the link back. Is it even worth it to get 100 PR3 links? Or would this not help us too much?
TBO. Your sites overall theme has nothing to do with flights. So you will probably be beating you head against a wall trying to optimize for that term. If I were you with a site like that that, the majority of your traffic is going to come from "long tail terms" I would imagine (if you know what your doing). Build content, optimize it for the user (and the search engine) and in the long run this will increase your traffic. Trying to opitimze for a term like flights is just not going to be impossible unless of course you want to spend $$$$$$, and lots of it.
Well I would first reccommend a little onpage optimization, for example some of the pages link via anchor link, have a totally different compared to the anchor link Although its difficult to implement with this type of site, try and use h1 tags for the main title on the page, use CSS to reduce the h1 sizr to make it look normal. On the cheap fights page, there is no keyword denisty for the keyword, its like 0.5% for cheap flights and this should be around 3% and the mainfocus on the page, as mentioned use h1 for "Cheap Flights" and mention cheap flights once or twice, within the content. Also use meta keyword tags for each page, but make they totaly unique for each page. Just try and focus on one or 2 keywords per apge, and make it the purpose of the page. ps. apologies for typos, implementing a college assignment at the same time pm me if your require more assistance
Firstly manageyourlinks, we have a flight tool that is on a PR6 page that we already buy in thousands of PPC clicks to you can find it here. With regards to the keyword density it is quite hard to this on a page that has very little contextual content on it. The tool needs to remain clean and clear so people actually use it. What about building links? Any thoughts on what i mentioned?
With keywords you will rank higher.. without it you will need ALOT more links using the anchor text to achieve ranking... doing both will get you the ranking for sure. I recommend you putting more on page optimization to get better ranking. If you are optimizting for cheap flights have it on both the Title and with H1 tags...
You don't want to buy links but you do run a PPC..? Doesn't seem logical to me... As others have said, do some more onsite optimization... Get links... Rank higher... very simple p.l.u.r.
Will changing our H1 & titles to "Cheap Flight Search" mean we lose our rankings for "flight search"?
PR6 means nothing, a PR0 site could be outranking you to be honest.. PR is not an indicator of how a website should be ranking.
the best way is to do link building with proper anchor text which includes flights. but you need a very good link building campaige as there are many good competitors thank you keyur parmar
