Why would you want to "build it offline"?

I made a lot of posts myself on my forum, but I didn't build it offline.

I think the OP is talking about "hosting" the site on their home PC without broadcasting it over the net. And then just posting on it themselves, and once they've accumulated enough posts, they'll upload it to their web host and upload the SQL DB from their "offline" site onto the one online and it will look like the site was active.

I personally would not do that, if you're going to post yourself, just do it while the site is online as it will get indexed quicker.

yaya... if you have a forum that is already running... use a folder or subdomain to develop your new forum then just transfer it to your main domain when yer ready.

The better way to go around this would be to cut off access to your forum by doing a "Shutdown" kind of thing that all boards allow ...
