Hello, I currently have a PR4 site that I want to grow to a PR7-8. I am new to SEO and do not know how to do that. A friend of mine told me that the best way would be to create a one way in bound link...he told me to get another site that is a PR3 and get link exchanges with other simular sites to trade links from the PR3 site to their site...and then from their site to my PR4 site. Is this what I should do? Or are there better ways to get to a PR7? Thank you so much for your helps. - Gorilla_Bob
Wow! You'd like a pr 8, I think that is better if you try first getting a pr 5 (that isn't also so easy I think).
recipocle links are not as much affective anymore as used to be, if the search engine will filter you out that you do a link exchange, I mean that if it will look so obvious, it will hurt you not help you..You taking much less risk if you buying one way linke, since its possible that you cant control who is linking to you..
ISU, Thanks for the great feedback. Yes, from what I heard, having recipricol links don't help that much in terms of ranking any more. I've purchased one way links in the past for $1 each link, but it seems the links soon disappear or they were not very much the same topic as my site...meaning that many of the links were from the links directory of a site for pets...where they have a category for gambling...my site is a gambling site...but the quality of links I have received in the past were not that good, so I'm hesitant in doing it again unless I can find someone that is more legitimate and trustworthy to work with. Also, would it help my site more if I get 1000 PR2 one way links or 100 PR4 one way links? I'm so confused at all this link stuff. Is there a good rule of thumb to use if you are trying to get to a PR8 site? Thanks for your help. - Gorilla_Bob
Get many many many links. 1 PR 1 site helps a little, because wouldnt it suck to be at 7.499 PR and be rounded down?
Forget about getting a PR8 if you are new to SEO. Realistically, if you can turn your PR3 into a PR5 by then next update, you have done very well for yourself, so focus on this instead. Also, getting your first high PR site is the hard part. Once you have the PR5, you will find it easy to make other sites of yours a PR4.
Hmmm can't you just like look for a pr 7-8 site with is relevant to yours, and buy a link from them? I think that should do the trick right? But i don't know if its any good for traffic...
Hey man, you dont need to thank me, I havent done nothing.Ok, I feel that is so hard to give an advice here, because everybody has their own opinion. I will tell you mine, based on the facts that I think are very important. You see I feel, from what I have read and seen that Google says "we need quality, not quanity" I think you should stick to it. Since everybody are abusing low quality links they are actually loosing their value, in other side then high quality links value raises up. Ok, now lets talk about what do you call quality link? Quality link is not really link with PR, yest its part of it, but it depends where it is places, how it is placed and from what website it links to you (by the way I would suggest mixing up your anchor text well). I think it makes sense if you got the link linking to your website from the shady one to which links other shady websites and which is low quality that google will not trust that website enough to give a hight weight on that link. Well, but your site is about gambling isnt? Here is totally different talk, you see it is part of the spammy internet and how I believe from the stuff, which I have learned this thing that in spammy places like gambling, pornography and ect. everything is different and the rules depends on your market, on the way it is played and how aggressive other sites are doing seo(thats why in gambling for example your site not gonna get bannig from using agressive techniques, but in other field like in some educational area you will get banned). Thats why first of all you need to scan your competitors using MSN or Yahoo and see what they are doing, it will give you some ideas what to do (but I am still very big fan about going with Quality Not Quanity)..IF you will buy links I would suggest by one after another not all in the same time and just see hows google will react to it you know what I mean? Also remember, you need just to do a little bit better then your competitor in order to rank above him In the end I would like to share a thing with you about the content, CONTENT IS THE KING Because as much you will have content as better chances that people will find you, even if you rank under your competitor and you know why? I was really in shochk when I created a blog dedicated to free seo book and when I checked my visitor stat and from where they came some of them came from the search engines using the most craziest keywords I have ever seen in my life and the reason is just because I wrote bunch of things, which let me rank for those crazy keywords about which I would have never ever think of and also my content was unique, which was a plus to my google's ranking(I still need work on that site thought, because I think I am some kind of still in supplemental results)...
