building links

    Hi,

I'm interested in building some blogroll links for my niches - acne, tattoo removal, anti-aging and lasik.

If I exchange blogroll links with sites that use 'nofollow' will google even see or value the link from the other site to mine?

I read about no 'link juice' from nofollow but will the link itself be unrecognized with this attribute?

Is this not important with link building??

    thanks

It IS important. The whole idea of link building is to, have other sites link to yours. The search engines will give your site "value" as someone links to it. A no-follow link tells the search engine not to give any value for the link. You should concentrate on do-follow links.

try search with this search string:

    "YOUR KEYWORD"+"Top+Commenters" +"Powered+by+Wordpress"

Also, search on how you can tell if a site is do or no-follow,

Nofollow links won't help you much with search engine ranking.

I wouldn't waste your time exchanging links with blogs that have no follow in their blogroll. Besides this is kind of a rare thing, I have seen very few sites have no follow in the blogroll.

No follow can't even give you benefit on PR. But for me, if the site has great traffic, it good to get some of them :)

I only like nofollow links if they are actually sending more visitors to my site. they are out there. if a site is offering to exchange links the webmaster should not be using nofollow in my opinion.

Wow, I didn't even think about the no-follow links. It makes perfect sense, but I'll have to start checking whether the links I trade are set to no-follow. Great question oceanrace.

Exactly what att said. I list one of my clients in a no follow site purely because he gets over 2k visitors a month from it. No link juice but good "traffic juice"

Don't forget that Google looks at the nature of your inbound links, and it is absolutely natural to have a mixture of "NoFollow" and "DoFollow" so I suggest that you DO NOT dismiss NoFollow entirely

TO avoid link spam, all the SE bots stop indexing the links once it found the no follow tag. So in link building , link with nofollow have no value

Nofollow means ignore that link. Google says that it ignores those links and passes no pr juice.

From what i have seen Yahoo probably follows those links. Surely it gives no value to them but i am quite sure that it follows and indexes the pages faster. For example if you post something in a high traffic forum and you have a nofollowed link of a new page in your signature, you will get that page indexed in no time. That worked for me several times.

So to make the long story short, google seems to ignore nofollowed links and yahoo parses the pages but gives no value to the links. I believe that bing treats them the same google does, but it's very early to say.

On the other hand keep in mind that that links, followed or not, bring traffic to your site. So placing a link to a high traffic site, even if it is nofollowed is something that will probably help you.
