Hello Guys and Gals, I'm considering giving templates a try for building links. Any suggestions? Anyone that can share their experience? Which platform is best...Wordpress, Xanga, Myspace? Obviously MySpace and Xanga designs will only get you links from those two domains. Also, I've heard of "footer link protection". How does one do that - encrypt the PHP code for the footer? Thanks! ~Adam
This is an excellent idea. Most of the popular blogs today gained the link popularity early by giving out the templates. It is best to give out word press templates as they are very popular
link building with templates (like sponsoring wordress themes) is great and new way of link building. i have done it before. you can see the results in a short time (like technorati rankings)
My biggest tip would be make sure your code works as it should in all situations under various browsers. I've gotten a few themes with broken code which I quickly dumped. And don't bother encrypting the sig part, I think most people leave it anyhow. If you do encrypt many people will view it as a challenge to remove it.
I will be setting a free template site in the next few weeks to try my hand at this type of link building. I decided for the link back to just let Karama take over for me, because quite frankly I don't want to worry about people who don't honor little tiny agreements like just linking back and giving credit to the creators!
My adsense earnings went up as soon as I started sponsoring wordpress themes for my blog (sort of a blog). Ordinary people will not go thru all that code to remove your links. Just don't put too many links on the footer.
I think that is the best way to build links. I wish I had skills to build templates to do that. Hint: Build templates also for myspace sites. You will get many many links, though I do not know how valuable myspace links would be.
Any experince with other templates than myspace and wordpress. Where do I upload myspace layout so that myspace users find them?
It does work quite good, and agreed its far from new i first done this in 2002 with a phpBB and a UBB design. I sponsored 3 themes today alone, and i wouldnt be wasting my time and money if it didnt help.
I have tried this twice with Wordpress themes, I have noticed lots of PR0 backlinks and a small amount of traffic, I'm not sure if this benefited my PR at all. Although I do get ok traffic from the Wordpress Theme Codex etc
