I keep hearing not to build to many lin ks to fast...

does anyone have an opinion of how many is to many and how fast is to fast?

i'm doing about 60-80 per month some reciprocal and some oneway.

I saw that same advice the other day and it just seemed crazy to me.

I mean -- the worst that could reasonably happen would be that Google (etc...) would temporarily suppress some of the benefits of those links.

    Am I crazy here?

I would think over a hundred a month would be seen as a lot, however a good news buzz and a site could pick up hundreds a week for a new product. So I don't get it either.

This appears to be a response the Google's patent filing.

    A quote from the filing:

"[0077] The dates that links appear can also be used to detect "spam," where owners of documents or their colleagues create links to their own document for the purpose of boosting the score assigned by a search engine. A typical, "legitimate" document attracts back links slowly. A large spike in the quantity of back links may signal a topical phenomenon (e.g., the CDC web site may develop many links quickly after an outbreak, such as SARS), or signal attempts to spam a search engine (to obtain a higher ranking and, thus, better placement in search results) by exchanging links, purchasing links, or gaining links from documents without editorial discretion on making links. Examples of documents that give links without editorial discretion include guest books, referrer logs, and "free for all" pages that let anyone add a link to a document. "

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you're referall or guestbook spamming. If I'm targeting a keyword that needs lots of links I'd rather spend 6 months in the sandbox than 6 years getting the quantity of links needed to compete. I believe all new sites get sandboxed for most search terms anyway.

Nobody knows if that is true but Google. It could be a permanent discounting or ignoring of those links.

I build links as fast as possible and as many as possible.

Want some good advice? Build links as fast as possible, MSN and Yahoo will love you, and in a few months, google will love you too.

My newest site has been open for 3 weeks and is #1 at msn with 9,000,000 search results...Google hasn't listed me in the top 200, and wont for another few months...however, I am getting about 150 uniques from msn per day.

Work your backlinks as fast and as many per day as possible...G will come around eventually if you have a quality site.

My only advice would be to build links to your subpages also. If you're gonna go out and buy tuns of site-wides, make a deal with the owners and get two spots per site.. one pointing to index and the other to a subpage. Keep doing this. Besides that just get them as many and as fast as possible.

Yesterday some jerk left 2000 comments (saying "very good" with a link) to one of my blogs. It was very thoughtful and smart.
Is this the way you can boost a website's backlinks 100,000 in a week?
If not what's the tool/site to check the backlinks after a week? Are we going to check on MSN, yahoo or somewhere else? and when the links are there (which means your guarantee) then we can pay?
Please post the details, price and software you'll be using (if there's one).
    I'm interested.
    thanks

Thanks Jim bob 9 pants but I know that thread.
This one is different. This user claims that he guarantees he can give your site up to 100,000 BACKLINKS in a week.
I'm sure he's not talking about 1 anchor 100,000 pages sitewide link.
There are many newbies who come to these forums. So if there's a claim like this one, I think a proper clarification should be posted (or asked by regular members) since many newbies can be bought into scam schemas (I'm not saying this offer is a scam).
Only question is a clarification to my points. that's all.

Ok, my take on this: The term "too many" might be based on your website. If the site is online for 1 year and you get 100 backlinks a month then all the sudden, you get 100,000 backlinks, that'll cause a spam flag.

Keep it consistent and gradual and you wont have problems.
