Building links on PR0 pages of high PR directories...WHY?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by christian231, May 21, 2008.

I think I'm going to stop submitting my sites to all of these "PR5, PR6 Directories" that have no internal pages with PR. What's the point in having thousands of PR0 links in these various directories? I'd rather focus my energy on digging through directories and trying to find some pages that have PR and submitting there. Anyone else see the merit in this approach or have I completely lost my mind?

I quit chasing PR a long time ago, so I'm in the minority that could care less. In fact, I prefer to submit to free directories with 0 PR. By the time a high PR directory reviews my submission, all those PR0 directories I previously submitted to will have a couple PR updates under their belt.

The point is not to increase your pagerank.. but to increase the number of backlinks. Yet its really a waste of time to submit to all of them. its not that great.

The best reasons I can think of are because someday the page your link is on might gain PR and more importantly, you are still getting a backlink. Even PR0 backlinks count.

Rather than chase PR you should look for links that are on pages where the other listings are closely related to yours. Even better is when the theme of the directory is related to yours. Niche directories will improve your serps more than a general directory will.

I trust directories link, cz i did submissions more than 2500 for my website, and got pr 2 from the dir. links, and still remains the same, while i had left the work, and no work going on...

I agree with sheds. My site got PR3 'just' by directory submissions. I did this as an experiment. Now, I also submit to new directories (thnx to snowbird).

pr0 or pr5... what's important for me is that those pages are being indexed by Google.. this is also the reason why i'm so picky on submitting comments to various articles coz most of them are not indexed by google..

I stopped focusing on pr a long time ago but I think it's a waste of time to submit my site
the the paid directories because most of them send little or not traffic to my site. I believe
there are less expensive ways to build backlinks.

I think most of my websites have been listed to over a hundred free directories and it works for me.

I'm not saying that directory links aren't a good thing...In the end the only thing that matters is that you rank well in the search engines. But since Google still includes Page Rank as a part of determining a site's popularity and search engine rankings, I think it's still important to get the highest PR backlinks possible.

Don't base all decisions on Google PR issues. Remember that the other search engines do not use PR.

I'd rather focus on the anchor text and related content than PR

    as they told u
dont foucs on pr dir submission might not give u a higher pr only if u submit to thousand of dirs but dont forget that ur getting link back to ur keywords that u use in titles for ur submission on those dir if u want higher pr so look for dirs that have higher internal pr and less number of submitted sites usally those are paid directories

Hey you have to check out the site in 'freelistfool' signature. It is a directory gold mine. I am not at all affiliated with them. Just found it by clicking on his sig.

The directory pages that have PR0 may one day have higher PR.
