Building Links on Internal Pages Help Home Page?

If I build links to the internal pages of my blog, will it help my home page in the SERPs? I have built the vast majority of my links to point to the home page but just can't get on top of my search terms. I have the keyword .com with a PR3 and more than five times the backlinks of the top result, a PR2, many of which are high quality links, at least, better than the competitions. The domain is aged over a year older than the results that are above it. All the results above it are simple content sites. 5 or 6 pages tops on these sites.

My question is, is it possible that one of the problems with my strategy is that all my links are built towards the home page? If I spread the links to the inner pages of my blog, will it help to raise the site in SERPs?

it will definitely help to your home page but it's not enough to rank up your website in google top search queries. you need to build back-links(unique domain) to your home page and you need to promote your subpage too it will rank faster then your home page on particular keywords.

It will help to increase the # of backlinks for the entire website, it might or might not help to increase SERP because you are building links on other keywords.
