Building Links for a Garden Site?

I am trying to build links to a site in the garden niche. More specificly I want links to point to my post called Zone 9 Spring Planting Guide

I am looking for some real ideas, not just the normal “Blog comments, forum post, directory submissions, and that sort”

    Thanks in advance!

you have not mentionned the following methods:

    Expert article distribution
    Social bookmark submissions
contacting webmaster to add links to their site
Creating account on relevant site( account that allow links)
Creating relevant pages on free hosted blog. (Squidoo, wordpress, hubpages etc...)

Really their is no miracle when it comes to link building.

I am not looking for a miracle...

Just some outside the box ideas. I am a better marketer than link builder (I know, link building is part of marketing) and all my sites suffer from poop link building (even though a few of them dominate google for what they are).

    Any ideas are helpful!

Definitely article submission. Try Payperpost too, to get some nice blog links. Stick to the garden niche too when link building.
