While link building isn't rocket science for blogs or content sites (make good linkable content, interact with other sites, get dugg, get social bookmarked etc), what about link building for commercial sites. Lets say a company that sell paper. Random example, but you get the jist . Who wants to link to a company that sells paper? So you do all the on site stuff, you submit to the usual directories, you find some industry related directories, you try and get links from suppliers, you get some local links and stuff like that. Now what about the on going link building? Without paying for links - there's link exchanges that aren't all that good. I've came up with two ideas, and feel free to add your own. 1. Create a content site around the main site. Content that targets demographics in the market for your industry. So for paper there's not much there, but you can assume that it's 'office people'. So some good content on your site thats linkable like '22 fun office gadgets' or 'top 10 office equipment' or a link bait quiz 'what type of office employee are you' that could get viral. 2. Create an SEO affiliate program. Make an inhouse affiliate program, and target sites to join it. Just give them a special link that goes to a 301 redirect that passes the link juice to your desired pages. What are your ideas on building links for a commercial website?
buy links. I kknow google says don't do it but look at the top 10 listings for all commercial keywords, 9 out of 10 of them will be buying links and a lot of them! Sadly until google figures out how to discount the vast majority of paid links you aren't going to stand a chance! Sorry if this sounds harsh.
