I see people selling databases with all kinds of content and I was wondering what some of the methods were for gathering the information. Does anyone know?

Usually databases just get traded around from one person to another. It really depends what the database is of. If its email lists then they are simple collected through subscriptions while images might be the merger of several databases over time. It all depends.

Thanks Everyone. I'm not looking for any content. I was just curious as to how people made the databases.

Email databases are generated using spiders and wgets. Eventually mergers of multiple databases and you have monster email databases.

There are various ways. I purchase some of my databases and have someone else gather others. It really depends on what is available. The problem with purchasing databases is that many of them are more trouble than they are worth. For instance, I purchased a tennis courts database and got tons of doubles, tennis court manufacturers, pro shops, and even law firms. So I had to go through each entry to make sure it was what I needed. After spending a day doing it, I just started from scratch and gathered the information from other sources.

On the other hand, a lot of MFA sites will just dump the entire thing and not care about the content they displaying to the user looking for information.
