Building backlinks is usually the hardest part of search engine optimizing a website - and naturally its the most effective. Backlinks alone are not going to help you - you need quality backlinks from websites that share the same topic/category as you. And you need some high PR Backlinks - or just ALOT of 0 PR backlinks. Either way, this new link development site - TNX - Allows your to choose the following when picking sites for your backlinks: Category/Topic Pagerank Yahoo Backlinks Language of Site And yes, they allow you to have anchor text - of course. I think they offer a great service, but they only have a limited number of English sites at the moment and they could definitely use more. Theres a link in my signature.
This is a great site to build backlinks. Their system is set up very well; be sure to sign up now as things will cost more later on.
Umm, I hate to tell you, but backlinks from sites that aren't the same category can actually help you. It depends on the sites, and if google trusts them or not.
I realize that having your links on sites not in the same category can help - 'I hate to tell you' but if you knew anything about SEO you would know that if you have a link in the same category/topic you'll have a higher click-through rate. Either way, you can choose to have your link in all categories, so there you go.
I am moderately advanced with SEO. But now you just sidetracked my comment by mentioning click through rates instead of PR/rank. Instead of focusing on my "I hate to tell you" comment, you should have focused on "if google trusts them or not." If you do not know what this means, you have some learning to do.
I really don't feel like arguing with you. I'm just providing a resource, thanks. And yes, I realize that a good backlink should be from a site trusted by google. TNX checks over every proposal to see if it would be able to provide a quality backlink.
There's a ton of ways to go about getting backlinks, and paying is definitely an option.. I'll check the site out.
Goodresource, I agree. My business however is free traffic. Ive built some solid quality backlinks using web2.0 sites such as propeller.com, stumbleupon. plime, newsvine, squidoo and many more....based on my calculations, my site should at least be a PR5 after 3 months of starting to use web2.0 sites. Of course we now all know the long Google delay of updating its PR database. Google will come when its ready...meanwhile lets keep on building backlinks and not be deterred by any further delays
Sitemarker, does stumbleupon really count as a backlink? I thought there was a nofollow attribute to all stumbleupon profiles/etc?
(BTW, I used StumbleUpon for 12 days and average 5K visitors per day, but that's another story- details tomorrow, in this thread- same time - its way past my bedtime Firstly, let me share some info about the no-follow myth: What is this "nofollow" tag by the way and how does it affect us....? This is how I understand it: The nofollow tag was originally designed to drive away spammers from submitting comments just to gain credit or pagerank by adding their links when posting. Most blogs have this 'nofolow' tag in their software. .....delicious ( onlywire), StumbleUpon uses them, to mention a few... This tag simply tells the search engine not to give our links any credits, Pagerank or worst..any traffic. So when we submit our links, it's good as nothing....efforts wasted.... or is it? SO this means that the PR6 I now also have as backlink is worthless? We'll it appears that i'm wrong (again).... My PR6 backlink from edu and backlinks from delicious may just as well be a good thing after all.... ..that the edu backlink report can still be put to good use... Here's why: Please look at this independent study on how engines treat the rel=nofollow tag: searchenginejournal.com/how-google-yahoo-askcom-treat-the-no-follow-link-attribute/4801/ ( if you don't see the above url as an active link, just copy and paste it into your browser window..it'll be worth your time , I guarantee) The conclusion is: "Therefore, even links with the No Follow attribute do have value; especially in the counting, but not always authoritative measurement, of backlinks." So they definitely are counted in the ranking algorithm. Pagerank is only one indicator of the value a page has in Googles algorithm. And Yahoo and MSN ignore this tag. I hope this helps... ======================= Tomorrow: 5 StumbleUpon Secrets you need to know before before even attempting to promote your site cheers, sitemarker
i just read in another thread that yahoo and msn do recognize nofollow. Which is it? BTW - Lets here your story on how you got 5k visitors with stumbleupon!
58 links activated now - Just waiting for my publishers ad campaign to be accepted and i'll let you know how there service is for publishers
Too fast.....you have to mimic a human working the 'natural' way of getting links..... you might end up not getting any credit from google after all
How to get FREE quality backlinks -EFFECTIVELY- using web2.0 and social bookmarking sites (most people who read this have only one thing to say - " I don't have time to do this ! 'Too tedious and time consuming) I say , read on. I want you to see how its done...then tomorrow, I'll show you the short cut When I say "short cut" I mean how it's done ethically, (legally) whitehat technique so here it is, the "conventional" way : When it comes to gaming the social networks black hat style, there’s really no “secret sauce†involved in gaming the social networks AND WEB2.0 SITES 9 e.g. StumbleUpon, Digg, Plime etc etc), so no need to cough up money for expensive e-books trying to sell it to you. Simply follow the rules outlined below and adjust them as required, employing your #1 resource as an SEO - your head! (1) Give before you take - vote for people’s articles (lots of them), then sign them up as friends (again: lots). Continue voting, then, gradually, send them one of yours to vote for. (2) Monitor closely: Some are anchors and will hardly return the favor (too busy, etc.) - keep them as friends anyway. If someone never votes for yours, chuck them from your friends’ list - no point in wasting time on them. (3) Before you send your message to friends for voting, vote for their most recent articles - as long as they don’t have too many votes yet, yours will stand out and typically they won’t be swamped with reciprocation requests yet. (4) Be prepared to give more votes to power posters than you’ll receive in return. Chances are, they’re too busy to keep track most of the time. But they can be very influential, so for my part, I’ll go for a 3:1 to appr. 5:1 ratio max (5) If you want to be sneaky, set up multiple accounts (different names, mail addresses, preferably IPs), but don’t overdo it because linking patterns (i.e. voting networks) are fairly easy to spot. Make sure you don’t vote for your own stuff all the time - keep it natural and as “organic†as you can. This little bit of extra trouble can actually make or break every manipulative campaign. (6) Beware votebots: Plenty of those around now - no good for you because most of them are too dumb to spread votes across anything but their masters’ articles. (Generally, their blatantly incestuous behavior makes them highly vulnerable to detection, of course. So don’t fall for that same trap yourself!)
