Building Backlinks To My Site

i'm new to building backlinks so i need help.

I want to rank for a specific keyword phrase ....Do i build backlink around my main page (Example.com )

or do i build backlinks that point toward that specific article with the key phrase i'm trying to rank higher for
(Example.com/blog/key-phrase-I-Want-To-Rank-For)

 

Both are important to boost the average PageRank for your site. You should be building links for all of the pages of your site, not just the home page. Then, using internal links you can spread the "link juice" around to other articles in the site.

You have to build links of home page as well as inner pages, this way you can build natural links, also you have to do it on regular basis then you are going to get benefit from this, more importantly you should have good understanding of quality backlinks then you are going to get more benefit, I would say.. there is no doubt to it really.

 

You have to comment on other people's blog relevant to your niche to get a good backlinks

 

Definitely focus on both. You will ultimately want links to be distributed across all of your site's pages. To start off, it is okay to focus mainly on a few keywords if those are your main money keywords. Your site will not be hurt from doing that. Vary your anchor text. Be sure to keep adding fresh good quality content to the site at the same time.

Make sure your backlinks are held in websites with good page rank and reputation which makes quite a lot of influence to your own website.

 

After the last updates of panda/ penguin you've to diversify your backlinks, so build backlinks to your site's inner pages too. And also do not point out with exact keywords to your site. Use diversification in keywords too like, if your keyword is toy.

Since you said you were new to link building I thought I would give you an example of how you could build one set of links to your site.

Let’s say you write four articles about a blue widget and place them on Squidoo.

• This first lens targets blue widgets and talks about the benefits of blue widgets. It links to your blue widget products page.
  
• The second lens reviews the top ten lenses and links back to the first lens as well as you’re about us page. Of course your “about us” page links to your “testimonial page”.

• The third lens is about blue widgets that are above or below a price range. It explains about the price and compares all blue widgets in the niche that are in that price range. This article will link back to your testimonial page as well as to article #2.

• The fourth lens will be about best places to buy blue widgets. This lens will link to the first lens as well as to your testimonials, which of course links to your products page.
  
  

Each article written on Squidoo has to enter my main site at some point in the story that is already being told. The fourth lens; all the preselling had been done, so I reassured the visitor by showing them some testimonials before sending them to the products page.

Links to the home page wouldn’t make sense from any of these articles. So links to the home page would come from directories, press releases, etc…

However, natural links are very important these days, there is no doubt to it really.. you have to focus on natural link building I would say.
